From Beaverton, OR. Lifetime resident of the glorious PNW.
But, who am I really? Here’s a breakdown of my journalism journey:
I was born and raised in the suburbs of Beaverton, Oregon, and now live in the Portland area as a journalist at the Portland Tribune. I spent the past year reporting at The News-Review in Roseburg.
Attending the University of Oregon was my pitstop between Portland Metro and southern Oregon. The transition was exhilarating as the city demographics offered cozy local coffee shops that fulfilled my desires of being a city girl like Jenna Rinks in “13 Going on 30.”
My passion for journalism surfaced during my senior year of high school. Working for the yearbook felt meaningful. It gave me an incomparable sense of gratification seeing the pride on my peer’s faces as they were provided a platform to share their stories, thoughts and opinions.
In college, I wrote for the Catalyst Journalism Project and FORJournalism further developing my skills in solutions oriented stories. I held the Education Board Seat for the Society of Professional Journalists Oregon Pro Chapter for a one-year term.
While writing brings me the utmost joy, in my personal life I have passions that extend to cooking, painting, fashion and music. On an ideal weekend you can find me blaring R&B music, wasting unnecessary amounts of time building an outfit, gathering an armful of groceries for dinner prep and ending the evening doodling away.
